Top HAKI news stories of 2019

In this post, we round up some of our top news stories during 2019 – just in case you missed them first time round!

#1 HAKI launches new iOS mobile application

Back in May, we introduced the new HAKI App for iOS devices to provide customers 24/7 access to information about HAKI scaffolding systems, irrespective of their location.

Simple navigation allows users to easily find component lists, mounting and loading data, and videos on products like the market-leading Stair Tower, Universal system and HAKI Bridge System (HBS) – all at the click of a button.

Complemented by AR, the app allows users to take a closer look at core HAKI systems and components in 3D. Rotation and zoom features also give a detailed view of structures.

A loading calculator for HAKI Stair Towers was also added to the application in December; making it easier for users to generate bills of materials and calculate safe loadings dependent on levels and exits.

The HAKI App is one of the new digital services being offered by HAKI, alongside the HAKI Design Tool and HAKI BIM add-in to Revit. These tools have been developed to enhance customer experience and lead times by simplifying the temporary works design process. Find out more about them here.

#2 HAKI shortens temporary works programme at Waterloo Station

HAKI was featured in Access Point magazine during July, for our involvement in shortening the temporary works programme at London Waterloo Station, while circa £400m worth of improvements are being made.

The article highlighted how:

HAKI’s involvement at an early stage of the project ensured build-ability of the planned works, avoiding any delays to programme
Safe systems of work, with collective fall prevention and minimal noise pollution, benefited the project in the public space
Reduced number of components using HAKI Universal sped up the assembly of temporary access solutions
Training and on-site support ensured capability and confidence in scaffolders from sub-contractor CCS Scaffolding, ultimately maximising safety in build of structure

#3 HAKI signs huge scaffolding deal with Enigma

In April, Enigma Industrial Services made a multi-million-pound investment in HAKI, purchasing more than 2,500t of scaffolding equipment.

The large-scale purchase was from ’consigned’ long-term hire stock, as used on recent projects, such as The Ropeworks in Edinburgh, maintenance contracts, the Syngenta Manufacturing Site in Yorkshire and multiple housing, office and student accommodation developments throughout the country.

The investment was followed up by a further £2million purchase in July; making Enigma Industrial Services the largest stock holder of HAKI Universal in the UK.

#4 HAKI grows training portfolio

HAKI added CISRS System Inspection Training and the CISRS Operative Training Scheme (COTS) to it’s ever expanding offering of training courses during 2019.

The COTS course enables people who are new to scaffolding to learn about basics of the industry and how to work safely with scaffolding and access equipment, while the System Inspection Training tests familiarisation with HAKI systems with a theory test and practical exam.

#5 HAKI publishes industry eBooks for offshore and infrastructure

We published two new eBooks in 2019, to help contractors and end-clients understand the benefits of HAKI scaffolding systems, solutions and services when applied to industry-specific environments.

The offshore eBook distributed in February focuses on adaptability through compatibility with tube & fitting, the use of the unique load-bearing ledger beam, options of steel and aluminium Universal scaffolding, plus safer suspended solutions through the HAKI build-ahead method of erection and safe systems of work – plus more.

Following in September, the infrastructure eBook takes a closer look at safe access and egress for excavations and bridge maintenance, reducing risk to the public through HAKI Public Access Stairs and Bridge Systems, and ways HAKI minimises possession times on rail, road and river projects.

#6 HAKI and NASC ‘Scaffolding as a Career’ open day encourages young talent

A career open day held by HAKI and the NASC was been hailed a success by organisers and visitors, inspiring young college students to pursue a variety of careers on offer in the scaffolding industry.The event, held on the 15 October, was attended by more than 25 students from the Bedford College Group and delegates from the Jobcentre Plus; all of whom are interested in pursuing career paths in the construction sector.

#7 HAKI AS celebrate first oil delivered by Johan Sverdrup field

The team at HAKI AS were delighted to attend an event hosted by client Equinor for all sub-suppliers to Johan Sverdrup, to celebrate the field coming on stream in October – a major milestone for the impressive offshore oil and gas project.

#8 QFS Scaffolding, HAKI, and SMART Scaffolder join forces for London Build 2019

QFS Scaffolding, HAKI, and SMART Scaffolder collaborated for the London Build Expo 2019 on the 27 and 28 November, to demonstrate how a collective package of innovative software, systems and services can support contractors and clients in achieving maximum safety and efficiency on temporary works projects, from conception to completion.

HAKI also took the opportunity to introduce it’s cladding system and digital tools to the wider UK market at the event.
