NASC Scaffolding Careers Open Day to be co-hosted with HAKI

The NASC and HAKI Ltd are co-hosting a careers open day to showcase the range of roles in the scaffolding industry available to workers of all ages and abilities.

The careers event will be held at HAKI Ltd’s dedicated training centre in Milton Keynes on Tuesday 15 October and forms part of the NASC’S wider drive to attract more recruits into the industry.

It is aimed at those who are interested in pursuing a career as a scaffolding operative as well as those looking to learn more about other positions, including scaffolding designers, estimators, H&S professionals, scaffold inspectors and many more.

Visitors will be able to get to grips with HAKI’s system scaffolding and test their structural skills with hands on K’NEX challenges.

Speakers include Lester Brown, Global Technician at HAKI Ltd, Priscila Escobar, Mechanical Design Engineer at HAKI Ltd, Ben Ramsey, Contracts Director at Q.F.S Scaffolding Ltd, and Henry Annafi, NASC Training Officer. Attendees will include students from the Bedford College Group, under direction of David Wilkins, Director of Construction & Building Services.

Henry Annafi said: “We’re passionate about raising awareness and understanding of the varied highly-skilled and well-paid careers on offer in the scaffolding industry. This starts with scaffolding operatives – who can learn a trade, earn good money, work overseas and quickly rise through the ranks – but by no means ends there.

“There are fantastic careers available in fields such as scaffold design, contracts and procurement, health and safety and scaffold inspection. These diverse roles are open to all takers; men and women, school leavers to graduates, those looking for their first job to experienced workers looking for a career change.

“We’d encourage anyone looking for a new job to give scaffolding a try.”

Paula Hubbard, Global Training Manager at HAKI Ltd added: “HAKI’s technical team, led by Lester Brown at our training centre in Milton Keynes, are excited to be supporting the NASC in raising awareness of the opportunities that the scaffolding sector has to offer and provide the attendees with a real life snapshot of the options open to those on their future construction career.”
